Attention Seeker

Mom asked

Dear Elly,

You asked me if I would make sure that next year Isaiah is in a different homeroom class than you. Why is that?

Love, Mom

Dear Mom,

I hate having to be in the same classroom as Isaiah because then I have to live in his shadow whether it’s at football, gym or hunting. He’s popular and I crave attention sometimes. He’s an attention hog.

Love,

Elly

PS… Don’t tell Isaiah I said that because I might be in trouble with him.

Mom asked

Dear Elly,

Why is it whenever I start a bath for myself, someone in this family has to poop?

Dear Mom,
Its probably beacause most of your boys drink WAY too much milk, pop, water and juice every day. Maybe you should limit their intake. What goes in must come out.

Boys Do Your Homework. NOW!

January 4th, 2007 Miss Elly Posted in Parenting Advice 1 Comment »

Mr Harmonica asked

Elly,

Is there any way to help my teenaged boys so they will want to do their homework on their own, instead of us having to hound them about it all the time?

Mr. Harmonica,

Give them a calculator, turn the door handle and lock them in their rooms and say “You better do your homework or you are never coming out unless it’s dinnertime or breakfast.”

Your friend,
Elly

Pink

Ruth asked

My little girl has 4 older brothers. She is two and a half. What does a
little girl with lots of brothers really need to cope with her tough situation?
How can I help her along? Thanks a lot.

Well you can give her alot of attention and have a talk with her brothers about being nice to her. You could give her a room all for herself that’s pink and a door handle she can reach. Take her shopping and let her bake cookies with you a little. Smile at her alot. If the boys get jealous you can give them their own pink room. Good luck with that.

Unsleepy Child

Sleep Deprived Momma Jen asked

Since you’re 8 it wasn’t that long ago that you were a toddler. My almost 3 year old will not sleep at night, he roams the house! What can I do to get him to sleep (in HIS bed) all night?
Please help!
Sleep Deprived Momma Jen

This one is hard because I don’t know what your house is like or if he sleeps in a crib or a bed. This is the advice that I think will work. Give him some warm milk and sing a lullabye for him to go to sleep. Maybe you could make a big deal about listening to a cd when he falls asleep and play peaceful piano music.

And lock his door.
